Why the change ?
The conflict begins with the similarity that exists between the PCSS Ram logo and the L.A. Rams football team logo. A copyright infringement suit has been filed against PCSS to change their logo immediately and with it, the long time mascot, or to face a costly court battle that will certainly deplete the limited funds the Yukon Education system currently operates with. " We simply can't afford to go head to head with the L.A. Rams and we must regretfully change our logo and mascot immediately" said a gentleman at the public school system who wishes to remain anonymous.
Although the PCSS Rams have had a lengthy tenure with their mascot, they are being proactive with their changeover to a hybrid mascot that incorporates the current ram body of their beloved mascot with the fluffy head of the much loved Wombat.
"We believe that change is good and we're taking our lead from the Yukon Government's recent logo change to change our mascot and logo as well here at PCSS" says Jeff Fudgeburger, director of the PCSS Wombat Reformation Association. Fudgburger continues to say that "Although the rebranding of our letterhead, team jersey, banners and Ram artwork throughout the school gymnasium will be a significant school expense, we, like the Yukon Government, believe change is good and feel that we can administer this change for around $49,300 which is just 10% of what YTG has recently spent.
We feel that's good value in today's market"
"The pending lawsuit with the L.A. Rams would be a significant expense for the Department of Education to incur with the court expenses, so the timing to change over to the Wombat couldn't be better at this point" say Mr. Peter Giangrande, Porter Creek Principal and long time Wombat supporter. "The students and PCSS School Council are really behind us on this one and we can't wait to get started come April 1st"

By Samantha Doss on August 4, 2014 This is an awesome book if you like to read about science written in a conversational way. Very easy to read and filled with interesting facts. The Peaceful Wombat MascotThe Ram has long been know for it's short temper and aggressive behaviour when forced to fight back. In keeping with the more holistic and gentle approach in the new education philosophy documentation, it's a more fitting change to have the gentle Wombat merged with the robust and stealthy body of the old Ram mascot. Therefore, as of April 1st 2018, the new mascot will make it's debut appearance at the next PCSS pep rally for all students to embrace.

The Principal's Address
From an interview with Mr. Peter Giangrande, conducted by the Media 10/12 Class.
"Thank you so much for stopping by today to talk about the new Wombat mascot for P.C.S.S. I believe the change will be a positive one. I understand that there are some people that have shown concern for this change, but I am sure once they hear my impassioned background and see the research I have done that they will enthusiastically embrace the change. As I have said in the past, the Wombat is a much kinder animal then the Ram- although both are vegetarians, the Wombat does not have horns, and simply does not engage in aggressive behaviour to the same extent as the Ram. We expect at this alone will serve to soften the atmosphere of the school, as the mascot will be much more soft and cuddly than the current one. Although Wombats are native to Australia, there are many connections between Yukon and Australia - the semi arid climate, for instance. and the incredible amount of sunshine during the summer months. As I mentioned before, many of the females in the school have complained about the Ram as a mascot it is clearly a male, and thus, doesn't represent them. The Wombat solves this issue outright, by being a more inclusive animal, as there is no name difference for the male or female Wombat. There are many more positives that will come with the change, and I look forward to working with you on it."
Thank you
